Small brewery pumps, like the Chugger pumps used on a Spike System, are very common for most home brewers. However, most CIP balls require a much larger pump to work properly. This CIP ball was specifically designed to work with a the 7GPM Chugger pump. It has also been tested with larger sump pumps which are also commonly used for CIP applications.
They also designed the CIP ball to fit through a 1.5" TC port. This allows the blow off tube to be swapped out with the CIP ball after fermentation. This works especially well with cleaning the temp control coil. Spike recommends a 5-10min CIP with 160F brewery wash to give a nice and shiny conical.
